Ray Best has 30 years’ experience, helping people manage their capital in good and bad times
Ray Best became interested in financial topics when he was in the Royal Air Force. Although he knew next to nothing about finance or investing, Ray started reading anything and everything to do with the management of money. Armed with a smattering of knowledge — and £150 — Ray started buying and selling shares, which as he says “I was rather good at.”
After leaving the RAF, Ray joined an insurance company. Seven years later he decided to go his own way with the intention of providing truthful and unbiased financial advice to friends, family and clients. He found that people appreciated (and still do) someone who speaks plainly and directly about money. Furthermore, he was adept at motivating his clients to aim higher than they could imagine in terms of their financial ambitions and desired lifestyle.
Over the years, Ray’s earnings and reputation grew to the point that in 1990 he qualified to join the USA’s Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) of which he is now a lifetime member). MDRT is a global, independent association of more than 42,000 of the world’s leading life insurance and financial services professionals drawn from more than 470 companies in 71 countries.
To qualify for membership, members must possess exceptional professional knowledge, adhere to an uncompromising set of ethics and provide a service of the highest quality to clients. MDRT membership is recognised internationally as the standard of excellence in the life insurance and financial services business. As trite as it may sound, one of the requirements of membership is that the individual must love helping others fulfil their financial needs and also be willing to lend a hand in the event of a catastrophe. Ray and his team have been looking after my financial affairs for some years now, initially, they dealt with my pensions. However more recently they have used protective trusts to ensure our assets pass securely and also ensured that there will be no inheritance tax to pay.
